About McLeod Ganj: Mc Leod Ganj is the residence of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the site of the Tibetan exile community’s main temple. The Tibetan government-in-exile is based just downhill at Gangchen Kyishong, and McLeod is home to a large Tibetan population, including many monks and nuns. Morning early breakfast, full-day tour to Bir Billing, The village of Bir (elevation: 1400 m), 2 km north of Hwy 154 between Palampur and Jogindernagar, is internationally famous as the base for some of the best paragliding in the world. . The take-off point at Billing, 14 km up a winding road from Bir and 1000 m higher, hosts major competitive flying events most years in October or November (including a round of the Paragliding World Cup in 2015). Experienced paragliders fly as far as Dharamshala, Mandi, and Manali from here.
Bir is also an important center of the Tibetan exile community: the lower half of the village is known as Tibetan Colony and there are several Buddhist monasteries and institutes in and around Bir, some of which attract numbers of foreigners for courses and retreats.
Palampur about 35 km southeast of Dharamshala, Palampur is a bustling little market town surrounded by tea plantations and rice fields at the foot of the Dhauladhar range. You can visit tea factories and temples and hike in the hills just above the town. In evening back to Dharamshala & enjoy your overnight stay at the hotel.
On next day after breakfast, check out from hotel & start your drive toward Pathankot. It will take around 04-05 hours to reach up there, on the way halt for lunch / tea. In evening on arrived Pathankot, drop at railway station & get flight / train to your home town.
